A Review of Dublin’s Best Night Clubs

Dublin, just like the rest of Ireland, is known for its eclectic mix of pubs and bars.

When you think of Irish night life, you think of small intimate crowds hammering back the Guinness in your quintessential Irish pub. Watering holes, so to speak.

You probably don’t consider the many night clubs that Dublin also has to offer.

If you are looking to dance the night away or listen to some of the top DJs in Ireland, the following guide is for you.

Here are some Dublin bars and clubs that are known for their lively atmosphere and young modern crowd.

The Twisted Pepper
54 Middle Abbey Street Dublin, Dublin 1

Phone: +353 (0)86-325-2471

The Twisted Pepper is one of Dublin’s best live music venues. This intimate bar has played host to many great nights of live sets and dancing deep in to the night.

First opened in 2008, the Twisted Pepper is renowned for its wild loud club music. The venue packs in several additional spaces, including the Vice coffeeshop — perfect for a quiet daytime pick-me-up — and the Spudbox food stall.

It is one of the rare few Dublin music destinations that draws in the punters both night and day. Although, as you’d expect, the evening entertainment is what draws the biggest crowds.

If house or techno music are your thing, give this place a visit.

Grand Social Dublin

The Grand Social is a live bar and club located by the Ha’penny Bridge.

It is split across several different bars and rooms, including the Loft; an upstairs room with a circus-like feel, The Ballroom; home to regular club night extravaganzas, The Garden; an outdoor sprawl located on the roof of the venue, and The Parlour; a nice intimate bar at the front of the Grand Social.

Combined, the venue plays host to a number of club nights and live music sets from genres as diverse as Latin American to Jazz to contemporary house music.

Check out their events calendar for a complete breakdown of what’s happening and when.

The Button Factory Dublin

Formerly known as the Temple Bar Music Centre.

The Button Factory is one of the city’s top live music venues, hosting a number of local and international acts, along with cover bands that are guaranteed to please the crowds.

The Button Factory has one main square area for the crowd, which can get incredibly busy, hot and sweaty. There is a seated balcony upstairs. You have three bars to choose from, including the craft beer favourite Crowbar; a popular choice for the locals.

Button Factory packs in over 650 people and is considered an iconic venue for Dublin’s music and culture.

Powerscourt Townhouse, S William St, Ireland

Phone: +353 1 633 4479
Email: info@pyg.ie

Located in the underbelly of Powerscourt Townhouse, Pygmalion gets very very crowded.

The music played here is mostly electronica, with lots of dance anthems and some deep house. Pygmalion attracts a young wild crowd. If you were hoping for a quiet night; best to avoid this popular spot!

Look out for the 2 for 1 cocktail deals if you’re heading there on the slightly quieter Sunday to Thursday nights. Some of the best cocktails in town!
